Ever
With a trainer last Friday.
Consisted of groundwork with Persee.
My history of riding lessons
In the beginning
Long long ago
Started with 2 endurance riders
Putting me on their Endurance Horses
And taking me down the trail.
They taught me how to post on the trail
And how to jump (which I don't like)
Weekends were spent doing 20 and 30 mile
Conditioning rides with them...
Then they rode their horses in the Old Dominion 100
And Tevis.
They would laugh and say that I thought Endurance
Was the only riding sport.
I was younger then and more agile.
Now I'm stiff and fall hard.
Wonder what the future holds for Persee and I?
He has had severe anxiety and nervousness
While at the trainers
We are treating him for ulcers
Amping up supplements...
He's being taken on the trailer for rides
With other horses
And even was taken out alone yesterday
By the trainer...
Sent from my iPad
Attempts to spend more time with my ponies-more often than not Thwarted by rain, travel, work or heat...will I ever prevail?

The Recipe
started from one of Nevel’s friends (Major)
But I didn’t have enough of the ingredients...
So it was basically this:
1.5 C ground flax
1 extremely ripe (totally brown) banana
1 Cup Applesauce
2 TBSP’s mineral salt
Sweet feed- unmeasurable amt. I just kept adding until I had a nice
Pliable-stick together mix.
I pressed them in to heart shaped mold, flipped them out on a baking sheet (lined)
Baked at 350 for 30 min then let cool in the oven.
Nevel went crazy over these. He smelled them in my pocket when I was trying to mount him...so he got some for standing still.
I think this is his most favorite recipe...with Major’s mix running a very close second.
It must be the bananas!
...and anything is better than celery! Ha!

Starting Over
I am determined
Or
Maybe just stubborn
Yes
I’ve been called stubborn
But
Stubbornness, while at first
A set of brakes
Is actually a catalyst
A method
To accomplish a seemingly
Forgotten
Goal
I’ll be 60 this year
I want to accomplish
A few things
Before my already stiff body
Gives out.
1. I’m gonna climb that mountain again 14,048
2. I’m gonna at least strive for an LD by spring of 2020
Maybe I will...
Make it...that is
Maybe I won’t
But I’m gonna try
Baby steps
Persee on that trailer
Let’s go boy!
